Aerospace & Defense IUG
Facilitator: James Chronowski, GS1 US
Objective:
- Continued facilitation of the industry adoption of EPC-based technologies throughout its supply chains
- Sheppard the approved GS1 A&D Headers within the Tag Data Standards WG
WG Status Update:
- ONS Update provided by the Co-Chairs of the ONS WG
- Summary of A&D Activities including the ongoing work on an A&D Pilot demonstrating the use of EPCIS
- Update on the TAG Data Standard Mission Specific Workgroup where the work on the inclusion of the approved A&D Headers is underway
Next Steps and Opportunities:
- Reengage the level of participation within the global community
- Conduct Monthly Conference calls/sessions with detailed agendas
- Engage the end users for participation as well as the GS1 Member Organizations
Bar Codes & ID BRG
Facilitator: Tom Heist, GS1
Objective:
- Process change requests and work orders
- Present status updates for BCID BRG related activities
- Review and discuss AIDC Planning for 2011
- Provide opportunity for open topic discussions
WG Status Update:
- 3 new change requests and 7 work orders were processed
- Updates were presented for the General Specification Publication Team, 7 work groups and the transition to the new Standards Management Groups (SMGs)
- Preliminary test results from Ohio University were presented and reviewed
- Subject Matter Expert feedback was provided for a Non-language HRI Study and for eCom Intelligent Packaging
Next Steps and Opportunities:
- Continued processing of simple and maintenance requests
- Complete the transition from Bar Codes & Identification BRG to Bar Codes SMG and Identification SMG
- Prepare version 11, January 2011 of the GS1 General Specification
Consumer Electronics Industry User Group
Facilitator: Stefanie Kresse, GS1 Germany
Objective:
- Update on the current status of the work plan of the CE IUG
- Overview of regional CE activities of the GS1 MOs
- Discussion on the SBN draft regarding the implementation of GDSN
- Overview of further important business needs as next work items for the CE IUG
WG Status Update:
- Update on the new organizational structure of the Retail Value Chain (RVC) IUG
- Advancement in the development of the SBN for the need of Product Central Master Data (PCMD)
- Development of classification groups for the definition of attributes necessary for the use of GDSN in CE
Next Steps and Opportunities:
- Finalization of the SBN document for PCMD to enter the GSMP process
- Decision about next work items, e.g. EOL/Waste Management or Reverse Logistics in combination with GS1 eCom
- Possible integration of the CE IUG to the Value Chain Processes BNG under the umbrella of the RVC IUG
Data Discovery WG (DS WG)
Facilitator: Mark Frey, GS1
Objective:
- Work on review of initial draft of DS Publishing Interface
- Work on review of initial draft of DS Query Interface to EPCIS
- Work on refining Abstract section of current draft of the standard
- Introduce Review Requirements tracking and mapping spreadsheet to facilitate development
- Review existing DS architectural diagrams to update to current thinking
WG Status Update:
- Good discussion and review of first drafts of materials regarding publishing and query interfaces. Review completed and updates to drafts will be placed in the WG community room reflecting participants' input
- Introduction to Requirement tracking spreadsheet completed. It is expected that this document will be used to show which requirements will be accomplished in this version of Discovery Services, as well as helping users quickly find which part of this standard addressed their specific requirement or requirements, once the standard is completed.
- Architectural diagrams changed little during the review.
- France Telecom Orange presented Options for Populating Discovery Services records
Next Steps and Opportunities:
- Next DS WG call will be held at 11:00 am on October 13th.
- Participants were asked to review Requirement Tracking and Mapping spreadsheet and to submit comments to Mark Harrison
- Participants were asked to review session drafts after the F2F meeting and get comments back to DS WG co-Chairs in time for our next teleconference call
- Opportunities to get more participants especially those with SAML and XACML expertise.
- Opportunities to update glossary of terms, Table of Contents and additional diagrams in certain sections to support and add additional detail above and beyond the current document architectural diagram.
GDSN Roadmap WG
GO Facilitators: Alan Hyler, GS1 / Brian Bennett, GS1 / Eric Kauz, GS1 / Justin Childs, GS1 / Susie McIntosh, GS1
Work Group Co-chairs and CR Submitters: Scott Brown – GS1 US, Staffan Olsson – GS1 Sweden, Krisztina Vatai – GS1 Hungary, Benjamin Couty – GS1 France, Grant Kille – SA2 Worldsync, Robin Kidd – Nestle, along with many members giving advice and asking questions about all areas covered by the various Work Groups
Objective:
- GDSN MR 5 v2.8 Solution path dialogue including BRADs for Chemical Ingredients Reporting, Household Furnishing, Irregular TI HI on Pallets and a Books Extension. There are also 47 Simple change requests that add attributes or codes for to the Core Trade Item for AIDC info, Date Markings, Plumbing, Shelf Space Planning, Food & Beverage etc..
- Dialogue on the Movement of Extensions to the Core GDSN Trade Item including Bar Code Candidate, Regulatory, and Office Supplies Extensions.
- For the FMCG extension some attributes will move into GDSN Core Trade Item and the rest of the attributes will move into the Food and Beverage Extension allowing the FMCG extension to be deprecated.
- Some new Attributes will go into the Food and Beverage Extension.
- Dialogue on Preliminary Trade Item BRAD (Business Requirements Analysis Document)
- Dialogue on GDSN Multi Expressions of Price BRAD
- Build two Business Case Documents one for Changing Discontinue Date to Global from Global/Local and the other for Clarification of Publication Date
WG Status Update:
- The eight Work Groups referenced above were all enhanced by input from GDSN Roadmap Work Groups attendees
- All Work Groups are on target
Next Steps and Opportunities:
- Feedback from attendees will be taken back to the eight work groups in the form of recommended enhancements to BRADs and or Solution paths
Local Community Network (LCN) Working Session for Member Organisations
Facilitator: Melanie Kudela, GS1
Objective:
- Time zone, geography, company size and culture challenge Member Organizations to educate local GSMP participants in community reviews and eBallot
- LCN services are for all Member Organizations: on-boarding GSMP members, Intellectual Property (IP) and Opt-in reports, announcements, active work request education, tools to manage local groups and virtual groups
- New Local Code List (LCL) service allows publishing GDSN LCL values in GDD
- Member Organizations and LCN optimize GSMP and improve draft standards by increasing knowledgeable local users
WG Status Update:
- Former LCN changed because GSMP changed, specifically the IP and Opt-in
- LCN web-site is launched on the GS1 On-line site
- LCN services now ready for Member Organization use
- The LCN facilitator needs to know of your short-term and long-term interest in LCL to launch the service
Next Steps and Opportunities:
- All Member Organizations engaged in GSMP should use the LCN web-site
- Regional webinars explaining the new LCN will be held in locally friendly time zones
- All Member Organizations should contact the facilitator about their short-term or long-term interest in LCL
- Member Organizations interested in piloting LCL should contact the facilitator
- Member Organizations should contact the facilitator with ideas to enhance LCN
Manage Multiple Bar Codes
Facilitators: Tom Heist & Scott Gray, GS1 GO
Objective:
- Provide status update
- Present requirements gathering methodology
- Encourage participation
WG Status Update:
- Minimum participation threshold for starting requirements gathering is nearing completion
- Members, pending members and interested parties have participated in requirements gathering methodology sessions
Next Steps and Opportunities:
- Achieve the minimum participation threshold
- Set delivery milestones and timelines
- Establish Co-chairs
- Initiate requirements gathering
Strategic AIDC Initiatives
Facilitators: Andrew Hearn, GS1
Objective:
- Approve an updated Project Plan
- Create initial drafts of the Scope of the Initiatives
Next Steps and Opportunities:
- Gather feedback from entire team
- Define the role of Strategic Projects in GS1
Tag Data Translation Standard 1.6 MSWG
Facilitators: Mark Frey, GS1 and Sylvia Stein, GS1 Netherlands
Objective:
- Kick-off meeting for this new MSWG
- Review Requirements from A&D, ILT/CE, and Tag Alterations
- Review required changes in TDS 1.5 for SGLN and ISBN
- Review TDS errata and ISO 15962 progress on User Memory
- Future Conference call and work planning
WG Status Update:
- Completed initial review of requirements from 3 IUGs
- Some errata discovered in ISO review will result in a few minor corrections to TDS 1.5; some clarifications and checks will be made with ISO’s WG4/SG1 project editor to make sure all our previously submitted comments have been fully implemented.
- Completed review of SGLN and ISBN proposed changes for TDS
Next Steps and Opportunities:
- Plan to have future calls in October to review further A&D, TA, and ILT/CE requirements. The first teleconference call will be 11:00 EDT on Tuesday, October 12th.
- Agreed to work first on A&D Requirements for adding new header
- Work to get errata, ISBN and SGLN text changes
- May need more than one sessions with ILT/CE and TA to work more on understanding their requirements.
Tutorial: Certification & Hardware Testing
Facilitator: Giselle Ow-Yang, GS1
Objective:
- Informed participants that the GS1 EPCglobal RFID Certification program has changed. Labs using qualified equipment are eligible to do certification testing.
- Provided participants a forum to ask questions on activities in RFID Hardware test method working groups and RFID Hardware working group activities in general.
- Discussed user need for having RFID certified equipment for U.S. Customs & Border Protection Agency
Next Steps and Opportunities:
- Plan to hold the RFID Hardware Q&A session as a standing session at each GS1 event going forward for purposes of community outreach.
