Participating in GSMP is easy!

First, you need to make sure that your company is a member in good standing of an MO if you want to vote (non members can participate but will not have voting rights), you are registered in Community Room and your company has signed the GS1 IP Policy or Acknowledgement form. Then you can apply for GSMP membership and sign up for participation in one or more of our Working Groups.
Please use the instructions and links below to start participating!

Step 1: GS1 Member Organization (MO) Membership Status

 Question:  Is my company a member in good standing of a GS1 MO
 Answers:

 Yes - Go to the next step 
 No  -  Contact your local Member Organization for membership here

Companies not a member of a GS1 MO, can participate as non-voting members.

 

Step 2: GS1 Community Room Account (c-Room)

 Question: Is my company registered in the GS1 Community Room?
If you don't know  Click here for a list of participating companies
 Answers:  Yes - Go to the next step 
 No  -  Go to the GS1 Community Room company registration page

 

  Question: Do I have an account in the GS1 Community Room?
If you don't know Click here to find out
  Answers:  Yes - Go to Step 3
 No -  Go to the GS1 Community Room registration page to register and receive your username and password
  What to expect?  As a member of the GS1 Community Room, you
      • Receive GSMP Communications
      • Can request to join a Industry Engagement Group

 

Step 3: GS1 Intellectual Property Policy (IPP) - For More information on the GS1 IP Policy and Opt-In documents Click Here

 Question:  Has my company signed an IP with GS1, EPCglobal or MobileCom?
 Answers:

 If  Yes, which policy did your company sign:
           GS1 IP - go to next step
           EPCglobal - sign here
           GS1 MobileCom - sign here
  No - click here to sign the GS1 IP Policy

 

 Who must sign the GS1 IP Policy? An authorized signing authority representing your company’s headquarters must sign the agreement. Only one agreement is necessary per company.  NOTE: if you plan to participate in GSMP working groups an additional document is required.  Your company must opt-in to the group by submitting either an Explicit Opt-In Agreement or the Automatic Opt-In Agreement (see Step 5).

2)  Identify which Groups your company wants to participate in and if an Opt-in is required, provide the applicable Explicit Opt-In Agreements or Automatic Opt-In Agreement to your legal department for signature.  Click below to review groups:

 

Step 4: Join GSMP Membership

  Question:  Am I a member of the GSMP c-Room
  Answers:  Yes - You are a member of GSMP, to join a specific working group, go to Step 5
 No - go to the GSMP Group Community Room click on Join Group, to join a specific working group, go to Step 5.
 What to expect?

You will receive a welcome email from the GSMP membership administrator welcoming you to the GSMP with instructions on how to participate in the GSMP.

As a member of the GSMP Group, you

  •   Receive GSMP communications

As a voting member of the GSMP Group, you

  •   Participate in all working group Community Reviews
  •   Participate in all working group Community eBallots (votes)

 

Step 5: Join a GSMP Working Group (all GSMP working groups and SMGs)

 Action :

Go to the GSMP Groups Webpage to review all groups available to join and their respective requirements to join.  Click on the Join Group link. 

 Question:  Has my company signed the group Opt-in agreement or the Automatic Opt-In?
 Answers:  Yes - Your request will be accepted
 No  -  You will receive an email with a link to the Opt-In agreement to be signed or click here to view a list of all working groups with links to Opt-Ins
 What to expect?

As a member of a GSMP Working Group, you

  • Receive GSMP communications 
  • Participate in Community Review
  • Can participate in group meetings and can access the group's work in c-Room

As a voting member of a GSMP Working Group, you

  • Can participate in working group motions and votes
