Products & Solutions

The GS1 System is an integrated system of global standards that provides for accurate identification and communication of information regarding products, assets, services and locations. It is the most implemented supply chain standards system in the world. It is the foundation of a wide range of efficiency-building supply chain applications and solutions and is composed of the following areas:

GS1 Digital

GS1 Digital is a new initiative to explore the potential of GS1 standards in the digital world.

GS1 BarCodes

Global data and application standards for bar codes that use the globally recognised GS1 Identification Keys to automatically identify things such as trade items, locations, logistic units, and assets.

GS1 eCom

Global standards for electronic business messaging that allow rapid, efficient and accurate automatic electronic transmission of agreed business data between trading partners. Based on two components: GS1 EANCOM and GS1 XML.

The Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN) is an automated, standards-based, global environment that enables secure and continuous data synchronisation , allowing all partners to have consistent item data in their systems at the same time. Global Product Classification (GPC) is a key component of GDSN , enabling effective category management.

GS1 EPCglobal®

A new global standards system that combines RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, existing communications network infrastructure and the Electronic Product Code (a number for uniquely identifying an item) to enable immediate and automatic identification and tracking of an item through the whole supply chain globally, resulting in improved efficiency and visibility of the supply chain.

Data Quality

GS1 Data Quality aims to support and drive improved data quality throughout the supply chain (B2B2C).  Data are of high quality if they are fit for their intended uses in operations, decision making, and planning.  GS1’s Data Quality Framework (DQF), an industry-sponsored, unified approach to achieving sustainable data quality, is a key resource of best practices for data quality management.

GS1 Traceability & Recall

GS1 Traceability Solution provides a single traceability process to meet all quality and regulatory requirements based on the GS1 System of Standards. Coupled with the GS1 Product Recall standard, they ensures more effective and timely product recall processes and notifications.

GS1 Sustainability

GS1 Sustainability aims at providing global standards for the automated exchange of sustainability-related metrics between trading partners.

GS1 Business-to-Consumer

With business-to-consumer (B2C), GS1 is extending its standards portfolio from business-to-business (B2B) to the digital world inhabited by omni-channel consumers. Topics include: GS1 Source and Digital Coupons.

GS1 Upstream Integration

GS1 Upstream Integration is the GS1 solution to address the challenges in the Supply Chain Integration between manufacturers and their suppliers.

Visibility means knowing where things are now, why they are there, and where they were before. GS1 standards provide a framework for supply chain visibility.
